The reverse of the coin features the detailed image of an octopus with its tentacles wrapping around the inner circle of the coin. The coin’s weight, fineness, and year of issue are also featured.
The obverse of the coin bears the Barbados coat of arms, with the coin’s weight, fineness, and monetary denomination below.

Other Information
The octopus is a sea creature known for its rounded body, bulging eyes, and eight long tentacles. Proven to be smart creatures, octopuses have been known to open jars, from the inside and the outside, and can protect themselves from predators by carrying around a shell or coconut as well as building a fortress of stones around themselves as they sleep.
Masters of camouflage, some species of octopus can mimic deadly animals such as sea snakes, and even change colour, to ward off predators.
