To mark 100 years since the birth of Donald Campbell, two £2 coins have been issued by Guernsey.

Campbell is surely one of the most legendary figures in British history – he famously broke the land and water speed records in the same year in his famous Bluebird vehicles before sadly passing in a crash during his final water speed attempt.

Struck to a Brilliant Uncirculated finish

Together they form the perfect tribute to Speed Ace Donald Campbell. The first coin features his beloved Bluebird CN7 which he used to break the land speed record, and the other showing his Bluebird K7 with which he broke the water speed record. Both designs also feature Donald Campbell’s signature alongside his portrait and the famous vehicles he used to break the world records.

And importantly for collectors, only 4,995 of these special pairs are being released. It’s unusual to see a Brilliant Uncirculated coin issued with an edition limit, let alone an edition limit as low as this.
