About This Design

Matthew Bonaccorsi’s reverse design symbolizes celebration, victory and sportsmanship with a moving figure holding aloft a banner. The top of the banner is divided into lines representing swimming pool lanes. The edge inscription reads “SPIRIT OF FRIENDSHIP · MANCHESTER 2002”. This Welsh version is one of four coins issued, each distinguished by their respective national flag cameos.
