1993 Royal Arms One Pound Piedfort Silver Proof Coin

The Royal coat of arms of the UK are used for the monarch’s official flag, as well as by courts and governments around the Commonwealth. The arms itself depicts a quartered shield featuring, in two quarters, the three lions of England, in one quarter, the rampant lion of Scotland, and in the final quarter, the harp of Ireland. It is crowned with standing lion wearing the St Edward’s Crown. To the left of the shield is another crowned lion, while to the right is the unicorn of Scotland.

This 1993 edition of the coin features instead, Raphael Maklouf’s third effigy of The Queen. Around the edge of this double thickness £1 coin is inscribed ‘DECUS ET TUTAMEN’ or ‘an ornament and a safeguard.’ It comes in its original packaging from The Royal Mint, with its certificate of authenticity. This coin is struck to proof standard in .925 sterling silver. It weighs the standard 19.00 grams and has a diameter of 22.50 millimetres.
