Royal Mint The Welsh Dragon Celebration 2016 Pride Of Wales £20 Fine Silver Coin
The BU 2016 Welsh Dragon silver Twenty Pound coin has been produced by The Royal Mint and is one of three silver £20 coins issued in 2016. This coin takes its place as the ‘Pride of Wales’, with the Mint wishing to pay tribute to the nation which has hosted their production facility since 1968. For this 20 Pound coin, the Welsh Dragon takes prominence on the reverse design. It was originally engraved by Norman Sillman and first appeared on the 1995 One Pound coin. It has been masterfully reused for this silver coin. You’ll be able to see that the reverse design was originally meant for the £1 coin because it has 100 dots on the rim, which signified the 100 pence in a Pound sterling. The obverse shows HM Queen Elizabeth II as imagined by Jody Clark, which is the fifth definitive portrait of The Queen. The coin you’ll receive will be housed in the original packaging from The Royal Mint. Specifications of the coin are a fine silver weight of just over half a troy ounce (15.69 grams), a diameter of 27.00 millimetres, a fineness of 0.999 and a Brilliant Uncirculated finish. Just 150,000 of these coins have been authorised to be issued in this presentation, making it the perfect gift for any coin collector or Welshman in your life.
