The 2007 Act of Union £2 coin was issued by the Royal Mint to commemorate the 300th anniversary  between England and Scotland, which occurred in 1707. This Act created the Kingdom of Great Britain, uniting the two kingdoms under a single government and Parliament.

1. Design:

   • The reverse design of the coin was created by David Gentleman, a renowned British artist known for his work on several British coin designs.

   • The design is symbolic of the Act of Union, featuring two interlocking chains, which represent the union between England and Scotland. The chains are also a nod to the strength and unity that came from the Act of Union, which joined two previously separate political entities.

2. Obverse Design:

   • The obverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. This portrait was used on British coins from 1998 until 2015 and shows the Queen wearing the royal diadem, facing right.
