2024 History of the Fire Brigade BU 50p Set

200 years ago, Great Britain’s First Municipal Fire Brigade was formed following the Great Fire of Edinburgh in 1824.

Brave volunteers would have had to pull along a cart and hand pump water from a nearby source to battle the flames. Fast forward to the modern day and today’s Fire Brigades have advanced fire fighting equipment at their disposal including high-pressure hoses, foam systems and agile escape ladders.
